AILA's 03/15/2007 Liaison Meeting minutes reflect the following statistics:
Total Cases Pending: 96,304
TR Cases: Approx. 75,000 [Recruitment instructions and job order will be completed by Mary 2007]
RIR Cases: Approx. 20,000 [Most of RIR cases expected to be completed by the end of April, 2007, except problem cases]
Total RIR Conversion Received: 6,000

Hello ,

I just wanted to understand how consular processing works for EB greencard

1. When NVC sends a I-864 form. is priority date to be current for this ?

2. When NVC sends a packet 3. is priority date to be current for this ?

3. what will be happen if the priority date is current and interview was scheduled in next month, and then priorty date suddenly will not be available in next month.

4. Can I track status with NVC using I-140 receipt number ?

It all depends if your I-140 has been filed and approved and the I-485 has been pending for 6 months+.

If your I-140 has been approved and six months have passed since the filing of the I-485 then you should have no problem working in the same/similar job capacity under AC21 provisions.

Having said that, I don't know what the USCIS would do nowadays given the really bad economy.

This is not a professional advice and you should consult a lawyer on your specific case.

Hello,

I was wondering how long it took for everyone's check to be cashed once their packages were received at the TX service center? I'm worried because from what I read before the check cashing was almost immediate, while getting a receipt actually took longer. My package was received and signed for by Michael Salcedo on November 13th, but the check still hasn't cashed and I do not have a receipt. My husband and I are planning on travelling to Canada for Christmas, will crossing the border be a problem? Any advice anyone can give would be great! Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I'm currently on my amlost 6th year of my H1B. I have my i-140 (Still valid) approved from my previous employer under EB3. I'm applying for a new PERM with my current employer and I would want to apply in EB2. I hold 3ys bachelor's degree with 12 yrs of experience. My attorney says that chances are either my PERM or I-140 will be denied based on my education qualification.

I'm looking for your advice on the following.

1) I heard that I can apply for 3yr extn based on my previous I-140. Considering that is it worth the fight on EB2. I'm looking to port my PD (Nov 2008) to this I140 if approved.
2) My company sponsers two PERM to be applied, so it is worth to try for EB2 and later if denied on EB3. Will this affect my H1B extensions? say if it's get rejected on EB2, am I not eligible to apply for H1B extension with my current employer, since my labor/i-140 is denied.

Please help. I'm just not able to get this over my head :(

My manager got an email from USCIS saying my I140 is approved and they will mail the approval notice. Online case status show that approval notice emailed. But we haven't received any emails about the approval notice. Do USCIS sent paper approval notices??

There's a phrase in American pop culture - "jump the shark" that seems appropriate about now. I guess in the facing rapidly declining ratings, Mr. Dobbs is resorting to even more extreme rhetoric and has now joined the "birthers" desperately peddling one of the sillier conspiracy theories out there. While it showed weak moral stamina, I could at least understand the economic reasoning behind CNN keeping Dobbs on the air when his show was producing healthy ratings. But even that justification for leaving him in prime time has evaporated. It's time to pull the plug. Hat tip to George C....

The annual Consumer Electronics Show kicks off this week in Las Vegas. This is the gadget wonderland I've attended for the last several years. Due to my father's illness, I decided to skip this year's show. But I'm avidly watching online for announcements of the year's best new innovations.
