I think you bring up very valid points. For a lot of ppl who have stayed away from family/extended family for so long, they may not like the constant interference.
"I miss my parents" is not quantifiable but what about the paying back the debt by supporting your aging parents? Let me make the question a little broader, isn't every immigrant divided between doing what's best for the children and supporting the parents?
yes they are indeed. I took care of this as my sisters and parents have immigrated to New Zealand, work and live happily there and will be covered by a great social security system.
also, they do not need a visa to visit me after they get their citizenship (in the next year or so) and I will not need one to visit them after I get mine in the next decade or so.......... :-))
as for what is best, we should all ask our parents and they would say do whats best for your kid because that is what they did. they did their best for us and we should do the best for our kids as they should do their best for theirs........

Assuming it takes longer than 12 months, what are the options here? I would like to understand what AC21 says. Is having an EAD a precondition of using the AC21 provision i.e. does it say -
"an employee after 6 months of filing 485 AND having an EAD in hand can switch jobs"
or does it say
"6 months after filing 485, the employee can switch"

I never give any red or green dot to anybody nor do I care what I have. As, you said what you felt was right, other users did the same to you...
I got red dots, just because I raised my concerns against factual errors in the letter. I have never mentioned that I am against sending letters. Just that emotional outburst is not going to help EB-3 India applicants.

Oh Man..that's a very good one..you made my day..No offense to this thread..i do have home loan with ICICI for the last one year..like others mentioned above, it is easy to get approved while being here..i haven't been to any embassy..everything was done through mails and a local bank..

Chase, Union Savings bank, Wells Fargo & Citi. I think if the sales person(agent) talking to us is well informed about our status they will work with the underwriters to get the loan approved- since it helps on their commissions as well.

I have done a Mortgage and 2 re-fi in the past with no issues, but last time, I had issues with Bank of America, Wells Fargo and one other bank (don't remember name). The reason was being on AOS/EAD, They were fine with H1b, but did not understand what EAD / AOS is. It all depends on the underwriter and if he is not knowledgeable on the Visa issues, then you are done. You can't ask for an alternate underwriter. I was able to secure through a credit union though.

Well you knew wrong. As long as you stayed in the US for more than 183 days in 2007, you are a resident for tax purposes.
If you are falling short of the 183 day requirement, you can opt to fulfill the 183 day requirement by counting 1/2 of the days of the prior year (2006) or 1/3rd of the days of the year before that (2005) that you were physically present in the US.

I know I might get bashed over this - but I don't see the so called "freeloaders" like me to be worthless as donors often tend to accuse.
In the past, I have doled out valuable information.... and have taken pains to scan my RFE and post it with detailed explanations etc for the benefit of the community. I have replied to people to the best of my knowledge and participated in numerous mailing campaigns. While those efforts may not be even close to what others have done here, I do believe that donations should be just that 'donations' and not turn that into a 'membership'.
Already I see people asking for exceptions "I have done xyz so I should get free access etc". I'm with that other 'donor' who said that we have enough divisions in our community already.
Keep in mind that by giving such an incentive to pay, you are also giving a disincentive for people to participate and share their data and their valuable experiences (thats not freeloading!).

First of all i want to say is nixstor cool down, you dont have to use bad words to say anything, even though you spell wrong people can read it right.
The whole name check system itself not working properly, everybody knows it, there are criminals who got clearance and there are innocents stuck for years, so its a chance to make FBI think about their system.

Please change these security lapses thing. You might be hurting yourselves in the long run. If You are thinking that this is not a big issue in DOS/USCIS, You are mistaken. This is a hot button issue in both agencies. Focus on quality of life issues and other losses incurred. Do not play with security. Its going to come back and hurt us. Please Go ahead and change these security lapse crap.

I think you can start another job with the same job description. EAD is not tied to the employer. It is tied to you. AC21 is a blessing for us in this regard.
After 180 days, you are free and you almost got virtual GC except that you need to work in the same job description and maintain character.
